We are coming up to a year of Design School shennanigans, with thirty-five people getting their design-on at one of our Paper Pattern Print workshops, and ten awesome individuals completing our Textile & Surface Pattern Design short course. As interest in our Design School grows and we celebrate creative wins with our community, we’ve been looking for, and found, a perfect new home! Cue music…
We are moving into SARAH CONNERS coveted shop and studio space in Hawthorn East next weekend!!
Sarah Conners and I were introduced by a mutual friend, Aleasha (the connector) McCallion who thought we were similar kinds of folk with shared interests and possibilities for future collaboration. Sarah Conners recently converted the backroom of her boutique into a creative teachin space, called The Classroom. Of course, she invited us to come along for the adventure as an anchor tenant and we are looking at expanding our workshop and short course offerings across Fashion, Product and Interior Design. Boom!!
Sarah is a Melbourne-based designer maker who designs and sells ethically sourced and locally manufactured leather accessories. Her bespoke handbags, purses, tassles are fully customisable, and her black leather berets featured on the VAMFF runway earlier this year.
Sarahs’ desire to open The Classroom was driven by her love of self-expression and an ability to share and engage others in the process of leather craftsmanship. “Learning is not about expensive software or fancy machinery,” says Sarah, who trained as a designer and design educator. “I share my knowledge and technical processes in a friendly hands-on environment, where participants can take away new skills.”
We will be hosting a launch event on Friday 18 May to celebrate our One Year Anniversary of The Design School and move into The Classroom.
Keep your eyes peeled for updates via Instagram and Facebook.
