The 2016 Melbourne Surface Art Symposium was an absolute hoot…!!
Many thanks to Chole, Laura, Nerida, Louise and the ladies from Windsor Workshop who ensured it was a big success. Thank you to everyone who came and big thanks to all of our interstate guests who traveled from WA, QLD and NSW to be a part of our creative gathering.
I am so happy to be connected with such an enthusiastic community of surface artists and designers (who now refer to themselves as SAGG on Facebook). Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Such good vibes!!
Just a recap for those who were unable to make it – the symposium centered around the relationship between hand and computer, and how digital technologies impact originality, identity and distribution. Our panel of experts shared their varied experiences of design, collaboration, product development and art licensing, balancing the creative and commercial aspects of building a successful career in surface art and pattern design.
Looking towards 2017 and building The Melbourne Surface Art Symposium part II. Suggestions for topics, or guest speakers most welcome!!
